She helps collect the Sacred Jewel shards, and bring down hundreds of demons in the process. Kagome tries to prevent a demon from flying away with it by casting an arrow, effectively shattering the jewel in the process, and the shards go flying in every direction. Demons are fighting over the Sacred Jewel (which gives immense power to anyone who possesses it). Inuyasha is about a girl named Kagome who fell down her family's shrine's well, which transported her to the feudal era. But I can't stress this recommendation enough. I don't usually write recommendations for an anime if someone's already recommended it before me.

That's all, just wanted to put this out there for all the old YYH fans that have still somehow missed out on HxH, and hopefully guide at least a couple people to one of the best anime series out there. I actually really like the ending for the '11 anime, it doesn't tie up every tiny detail into a neat bow but it does give a great sense of closure while letting the world it creates still feel alive and lived in. Though there are a few things that set the older one apart and make it worth watching (it even does a thing or two better than the newer one), I think overall the 2011 has more strengths the biggest one being that the '99 version ends quite a ways earlier than the '11 anime does, and while technically neither of them have the actual END (the manga is still ongoing), the 2011 anime comes to a natural stopping point that makes the viewing experience feel complete. I think both versions (the 1999 and the 2011) are worth checking out, though as I said earlier I would prioritize the 2011 version. It's certainly worth looking into, and I can almost guarantee that if you love YYH than you will love HxH. There are plenty of reviews out there for HxH that go on and on about the things this show does right. Oh, and it can get pretty damn emotional as well. and it also helps that HxH is far more surprising and unpredictable. There are similar concepts, abilities, and fights as well, but again it seems like HxH only improves on these elements. Like YYH, the characters are fascinating and compelling, but in HxH there is even more depth and development given to them. Seriously, some of the greatest moments of the series come close to the end. Though it may start a little slow for the first few episodes, HxH quickly picks up steam and honestly just continues to get better and better throughout its run. But Togashi is, and I say this without hyperbole, a genius and an absolute master storyteller, and some of the things he does within the shounen genre are unreal. And yes, on paper some of the decisions he would ultimately come to make with HxH may have seemed pretty risky on paper. However, that is why he created another series, one where he could start fresh and go in the directions he wanted to go. Togashi felt like his vision was being compromised, which very sadly seemed to lead to him giving up on YYH. There seems to be a reason for this: when nearing the later parts of YYH, apparently Togashi had ideas for where he wanted to take the story that were shut down by those publishing his series- they wanted to stick to more a more formulaic and "safe" structure due to the popularity of the series. and it's not even as close as you might think. Being the second go around with the shounen genre after finishing the beloved YYH, Togashi continued to grow and improve as a writer and I have to say that HxH is superior to YYH. This isn't just "another anime like YYH by the same creator", though. though I recommend watching the 2011 version more, for reasons I'll get into in a bit. You could even check out the 1999 HxH adaptation, which feels even more similar to YYH due to being animated closer to that time. And it isn't hard to tell, there are similar characters (both in design and the way they are written), and often the tone and storytelling feel similar too. First of all, as I said, both series were created by the same original author, Yoshiro Togashi. If you, like me, grew up with YYH (or just really enjoy the series) but are unfamiliar with HxH, there are many reasons why it might be the anime for you.
I'm sure this is a common recommendation, due to the fact that both anime are based on material from the same mangaka, but I really want to emphasize how much fans of Yu Yu Hakusho should check Hunter X Hunter out.
